M.Com · M.A. Music · AIR Graded Artist
A performing artist and dedicated music educator rooted in the classical traditions of Carnatic music, bringing melody, devotion, and discipline to every lesson.
Music was never something I chose — it chose me. Growing up in a traditional South Indian family in Chennai, melody was woven into everyday life. It was my mother, Smt. Radha Nandhakumar, who first kindled the flame, singing at home and nurturing in me a love for Carnatic music long before I knew what it truly was.
My formal journey began at the age of seven — a young girl with wide ears and an eager heart, learning the foundational grammar of this ancient art. Over the years, under the guidance of extraordinary gurus, that foundation grew into something deeper: a relationship with music that is devotional, disciplined, and ever-evolving.
Today, with over 200 stage performances across prestigious sabhas and festivals, and titles conferred by the Government of Tamil Nadu and revered institutions, I bring that same depth and sincerity into every class I teach — believing that Carnatic music is not just an art form, but a way of life.
At just seven years old, I began my formal training under Dr. C. Malarvizhi. Those early years were formative — laying the foundation of Swaras, discipline, and love for the classical form that I carry to this day.
It was under Smt. R. Sengamalam that my music truly deepened. Her guidance took me through advanced Krithis and rigorous performance training — preparing me not just to sing, but to perform with presence and purpose.
I had the privilege of learning Dhivya Prabandham — a devotional musical tradition — from Smt. Janaki Ramanujam, an A-graded artist of All India Radio. This chapter added a deeply spiritual dimension to my musical journey.

Voices from those who have learned Carnatic music under Preethi's guidance.
For the past 6 years, I have had the privilege of learning devotional music from Ms. Preethi Nandhakumar, and it has been a beautiful journey. I have learned around 50 to 60 compositions and can now confidently sing during Navarathri and temple visits. Balancing motherhood and other interests is not always easy, but my teacher has always been understanding and flexible with timings. Her kindness and encouragement made learning so comfortable and enjoyable. Ms. Preethi is truly the best teacher, and I feel blessed to be her student.
